Our voices indicate so much about our personalities. This technique aims to retrain the vocal chords. The therapist enables the client to rediscover the whole range of vocal expression, much of which may have been blocked due to depression or anxiety. This results in a sense of empowerment, liberation, and the pleasure of being able to express oneself freely. Long-buried feelings and emotions are often released. The emphasis of this therapy is to improve the quality of sounds that the client makes but is not a traditional singing lesson. Group Voice workshops involving chants and mantras can prove very healing.
Notes: Suitable for those who use their voices for a living, such as actors, and for anyone who wants to 'reclaim' their voice. Sometimes used to treat difficulties such as stammering or those whose voice has been reduced to a whisper.
