Also known as "The Study of Excellence". The founders of NLP, two Californian academics, Richard Bandler and John Grinder, observed techniques being practised by notable therapists and communicators, and used their findings as the basis of NLP. The main hypothesis is that we can all become far more effective and successful in our lives by implementing these techniques, which include the creative use of language, visualisation, and the modelling of other peoples' successful behaviour.
Notes: NLP is an 'empowering' set of skills that aims to enhance potential and individual excellence, both in one's personal life and career. Individual techniques, such as the 'fast phobia cure' have proved successful at treating specific psychological and emotional problems within a shorter space of time than other therapies.
