| This therapy grew out of individual work with children
and adolescents, and is now a worldwide therapeutic discipline, based on
the principles of Freud and Humanistic Psychology. The family is seen as
a psychological system just as other systems where all parts need to
integrated successfully to create a balanced whole. The therapist
remains neutral but not detached, appreciating all points of view and
recognising that all families are complex. No panacea is promised - the
therapist offers hope and a positive future of change without blame or
judgment.
