interCONNECTIONS - the Mind Body Spirit network

Dramatherapy / Psychodrama

Psychodrama, developed by an Austrian Psychiatrist, Jacob Moreno, at the time of Freud, maintained that people would voice their true feelings about what they had experienced if they were given the opportunity to act these feelings out within a group. It is a way of finding a new response to an old situation or an adequate response to a new situation, and is thus a powerful form of psychotherapy. The therapist interprets and clarifies the enactments as they unfold

Notes: Can be used to explore almost any problem for which one would consult a psychotherapist as this therapy deals with past hurts and present difficulties by offering a safe arena for their expression.
