Based on just
the date, time and place of a person's birth, an astrologer draws up a
'map' of the planets as they were at the moment of birth, called a birthchart, chartwheel,
or horoscope. From the birthchart, a skilled astrologer will get an accurate and often
startlingly detailed sense of the client's personality, motivations
and unique potentialities. The consultation, or 'reading'
enables the client to experience themselves and their lives from a new and refreshingly
different perspective. This is the branch of astrology known as Natal (birth)
Astrology. Some counsellors or psychotherapists use the birthchart as a
diagnostic tool, enabling them to quickly identify the root of a client's problems, which
they can then explore together. There are many other different branches of astrology however, for instance Synastry explores relationships, by loooking at how one person's birthchart harmonises or otherwise with a second person's. Mundane Astrology looks at world affairs and the birthcharts of countries and world leaders. Financial Astrology tracks the relationships between thre movements of the planets and the movements of the stockmarket, as well as the horoscopes of individual companies and businesses. Horary Astrology is akin to pure divination, and can be used to answer direct questions, such as 'where is my lost wallet?', or 'will I be promoted this year?' Transits and progressions can be used to forecast future events and life-phases, whilst Astrogeography shows where in the world you are most in harmony or disharmony with, astrologically. Electional Astrology can be used to choose the most propitious time for important events, for instance a marriage or the opening of a business. Positive benefits: Facilitates self-understanding and can point to resolution of specific conflicts. Depending on what type of astrology is used, leads to greater understanding of self, relationships, one's potential and current challenges and opportunities in one's life. Professional Organisations:
