MERCURY,
VENUS AND MARS -
HOW YOU RELATE TO THE PEOPLE
AROUND YOU
The
inner planets of the solar system (excluding the Earth) symbolise in
astrology the way you communicate and interact with other people, be
they friends, strangers or partners. Mercury represents your everyday
communication style and thinking patterns, and thus rules speech,
writing and the way we process information about the world. Venus and
Mars on the other hand represent the two principles of relating to other
people - approval by others, and asserting one's own interests. Where
Venus is the realm of social harmony, adapting to others' interests,
making oneself attractive (and the qualities that one finds attractive
in others), Mars is the realm of action, self-assertion, and getting
what one wants. Good relationships are made easier when we are able to
communicate effectively with others, and know when to give and when to
take.
MERCURY
MERCURY
symbolises one's INTELLECT; MIND; INTELLIGENCE; COMMUNICATION;
MEDIATION; LOGIC; ADAPTABILITY; MOBILITY; REASON; ANALYSIS;
DISCRIMINATION; HUMOUR; KNOWLEDGE and SPEECH Unlike the Sun and Moon, it
is a NEUTRAL planet, and is personified by SIBLINGS; FRIENDS; THINKERS;
WRITERS; TALKERS and those who MEDIATE.
In the
horoscope it is the planet that shows how one communicates and thinks.
The sign and house in which it is found, together with the aspects
Mercury makes to other planets, show the manner and style in which one
communicates to others, the area of life in (or about which) one is most
communicative and intelligently detached, and how one's powers of speech
and mind are integrated with the rest of the psyche. The relative
strength or weakness of Mercury in the horoscope shows the extent to
which one uses one's reason and communicative abilities.
MERCURY IN
AQUARIUS
KEYWORDS:
PROGRESSIVE MIND; INVENTIVE; REFORM; INVOLVED; UTOPIAN; UNUSUAL SENSE OF
HUMOUR; ABSTRACT; SCIENTIFIC; OBJECTIVE; MENTALLY STIMULATED.
Your
MERCURY is in AQUARIUS, indicating that you are mentally abstract and
progressive. You have a versatile and bright mind, and have learnt to
think for yourself rather than rely on the assumptions that are commonly
held by people. Scientific enquiry, politics and philosophical ideas are
your field of interest, and you are capable of offering original and
even visionary solutions to social problems. You have a strong social
conscience and spend a great deal of time thinking about problems that
are beyond the bounds of your individual or private life. Debate and
intellectually stimulating company bring out your wit and love of
discussion. You are a great mixer, feeling at ease talking to people
from all walks of life, even if you don't know them well. You may be a
member of discussion groups, associations that promote humanitarian
causes, or even radical organisations holding unorthodox ideas, and are
often likely to be quite controversial in your opinions. Your sense of
humour is probably notably quirky. Your intuition is excellent and you
are able to grasp in seconds what may take others much longer. You are a
natural networker, and are likely to have a wide range of contacts you
can draw on. You are drawn to technology, innovation and modern working
methods, and enjoy using the latest technology (for instance email, the
Internet, mobile phones or digital assistants) as a way of communicating
and working.
MERCURY IN
THE FIFTH HOUSE
KEYWORDS:
GAMES; COMPETITIONS; MENTALLY CREATIVE; STORYTELLING; ELABORATION; FUN;
FUNNY; COMIC; QUIZZES; WRITING; NOVELS; PLAYFUL; GOOD COMMUNICATION WITH
CHILDREN; TEACHING.
Your
MERCURY is in the FIFTH HOUSE of your horoscope, indicating that your
mental abilities flourish in creative or enjoyable situations. You are
confident about your mental abilities and enjoy using (or displaying!)
them wherever possible. You can be witty and amusing, with a gift for
entertaining people and telling a good story, for which reason you are a
popular party guest. You may even have talent as a comic. In love, you
are light-hearted and fun, although you may have a tendency to apply
your game-playing mentality to your relationships, much to your
partner/s irritation. You seek stimulation, variety and intellectual
exchange in a relationship, and if these are not present you become
quickly bored and look elsewhere.
You are
good at playing games that demand an understanding of strategy, such as
chess or team sports. You are able to express ideas confidently and
dramatically, and may have talent as a novelist, playwright, or even a
critic. You enjoy using your mind creatively, which is why learning is
so important to you. In some ways your mentality is child-like - open,
imaginative and spontaneous, which is perhaps why you get on so well
with children and can talk to them in such a way that they do not feel
talked down to. For this reason, if other factors in your birthchart
concur, you could make a very good teacher - someone who can entertain,
inspire, and inform.
